There are certain ideal qualities that a person should possess in order to be a successful student nurse. American College of Nursing (ACN) expects their students to be honest, ethical and hardworking among others. There are five significant qualities that each American College of Nursing (ACN) student should possess in order to be successful in any program or course that American College of Nursing (ACN) offers. They are: (1) TIME MANAGEMENT, (2) EXCELLENT STUDY SKILLS, (3) ABILITY TO WORK WITH FACULTY, (4) PRESENCE OF STRONG SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS and (5) THE ABILITY TO MANAGE MONEY. Some people are born with these qualities and some are not. Yet it is safe to say that, many of these qualities may be acquired through learning. At American College of Nursing (ACN), faculty has a passion to teach these skills to the future healthcare professionals of tomorrow.
Perhaps one of the most challenging, yet an essential quality of being a successful student nurse is TIME MANAGEMENT. Let's face it. Nursing Programs are stressful! But as long as students learn how to plan and prioritize, stress will be minimal, allowing for better functioning in everyday life.
A second quality that a student nurse should possess is EXCELLENT STUDY SKILLS. Some students are productive with group study sessions and some are more productive studying individually. Some students are visual learners, some are auditory learners and some are kinesthetic learners. Visual learners are those who are able to learn information more efficiently looking at pictures or watching. Auditory learners are those who learn information more efficiently through listening and kinesthetic learners are those who learn information more efficiently through performing the task or skill itself through return demonstration. Whatever study method works most productively for the student is the method that should be continued throughout the course of the program or class.
A third focal quality that a student should possess is the ABILITY TO WORK WITH FACULTY. Most faculty are viewed as the enemy, but students must learn to work with them throughout their school life. Students must be proactive to build and maintain a professional student-instructor relationship. If there are certain subject areas being taught in the course may not be comprehensive enough , the student should seek help from a faculty member for further clarification so that it becomes clearer and easier to understand . There may be cases where a faculty member may not know the answer to a question; the faculty member would normally seek answers to clarify the issues raised. Everything is a learning process and we are all encouraged to get better in our craft. It is also worth considering our instructors were also student nurses themselves.
The fourth quality that is imperative to possess is the PRESENCE OF STRONG SUPPORT FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS. Family and friends need to understand the important dedication that is needed for a student nurse to study in order to succeed in such a program. There may be times in which family and friends are needed to lend a helping hand either with house work, childcare or running errands in order to supply ample time for the student to study, get homework done, or even sometimes relax and take a nap. Whatever can be done, whether it is practical support or emotional support, which can make all the difference in whether a student nurse completes a program or course at American College of Nursing (ACN).
The last and maybe the most critical quality that is needed in order for a student nurse to succeed at American College of Nursing (ACN), is the ABILITY TO MANAGE MONEY. Students must ensure that funding is stable and available for both the school and everyday expenses. Although American College of Nursing accepts student loans through Sallie Mae, not all students get approved for this loan. Those students who do not get approved for this loan can take advantage of the In-house payment options. With this private pay option, BUDGETING IS A MUST. Students must distinguish their needs from their wants. Additionally, no one can predict when an emergency situation will occur, which is why it is also essential for students to learn how to save and put money away for such instances.
Although
Nursing Programs may be one of the most demanding times of a nurse's life, it can also be the most preeminent time because the student is able to develop personally and professionally. Whatever a student can do to build on these five significant qualities will ensure the success as a student nurse at American College of Nursing (ACN).
